Located in the northern part of the state in East Tennessee, Anderson County is home to about 80,000 residents. It's County seat is Clinton and it's included in the Knoxville Metro area. Originally, Anderson County was called the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians settled all the way back in the late 1700s. In the early 1800s, a part of it was partitioned away from Grainger County as well as Knox County making the neighboring County of Roane County sister counties with Anderson.
From coal mining to being a world-leading technological powerhouse, Anderson County not only offers small-town charm but a highly innovative and technologically full word industry. The primary cities include Clinton, Norris, Oak Ridge, Oliver Springs, and Rocky Top, the largest being Oak Ridge with a population of about 30,000. Some people call it an eclectic cosmopolitan city to small "Mayberry-like" communities. This county's diversity appeals to just about everyone.

In addition to the Museum of Appalachia, the American Museum of Science and Energy offers a unique history of Oak Ridge and the "Secret City" of World War II the Manhattan project. Anderson County Schools
Residents are part of the Anderson County school division, which offers nine elementary schools, four middle schools, and the Anderson County high school and Clinton high school. The district also supports the Anderson County Career and Technical Center, and the Clinch River community school.
Many of the schools receive excellent scores from parents and students alike in some of the top ones continue to be Woodland Elementary, Clinton Elementary, South Clinton Elementary, Jefferson middle school, and Oak Ridge high school.
